Specific Research Interests:
My research interests focus on benthic community ecology in disturbed habitats. Disturbances can include both anthropogenic (human-mediated) and natural processes. One of the key issues in disturbance ecology is the availability of good background or baseline data, and in the Benthic Lab we have a strong interest in rescuing and developing historical data sets, incorporating disparate information into standardized databases, and making them widely accessible. We take a holistic approach to our work, placing it in a larger context of ecological understanding across habitats and sustainability of ecosystem health both locally and globally.
