This course addresses the mechanics and physiology of animal and plant motion in a fluid environment. We will examine the mechanics of swimming and flight, as well as plant response to flow, turbulence, and waves. The course starts with a theoretical grounding and will focus on rigorous problem solving in biological mechanics and fluid mechanics. Prerequisites: Graduate standing.
