Stranding response: Striped dolphins are primarily found offshore, but are occasionally sighted in Monterey Bay. This animal was found washed up on the beach in Pacific Grove and was reported to the MLML Stranding Network by a concerned member of the public. MLML graduate students responded to the stranding, collected key stranding data, and recovered the carcass for later examination. Necropsy results are still pending, but cause of death may be linked to a local outbreak of cetacean morbillivirus.
