Do MPAs increase reproductive output?
By referring to the graph below, you can see that 7 out of the 11 most commonly encountered species (from CCFRP surveys, 2007 through 2013) show greater proportions of mature fish inside MPA boundaries. An additional two species show equal numbers of mature fish between MPA and REF. Canary and Yellowtail Rockfish spawn in waters deeper than those surveyed and adult Black Rockfish are rarely caught in this region.
