My work deals specifically with understanding hydrodynamics within kelp beds along California. I'm interested in how Particulate Organic Carbon (POC), which acts as the food source to detritivores and filter-feeding organisms, is moved through the system by currents and waves. I use an array of sophisticated sensors to measure currents, waves, and POC through kelp beds to better understand how the flow and particle load is affected by the presence of kelp.
